Every once and a while … no make that all the time in the Podcast World, the people who really know the power of Podcasting say things to the effect of “Don’t sell in CPM”; some go on to say you should think in eCPM, or effective CPM, but don’t sell ads for your shows in CPM (cost per thousand).

Today on one of the blogs I following using my RSS Reader, I found a great post talking about the major issue about CPM, especially when talking about Podcasting. He linked to two things, an article that explains CPM and how it is designed for mass markets where only a small percentage of the consumers are potential customers, and this video below:

The idea of Cost-Per-Target (CPT) is a much better mindset and a term more people will use over the coming months and years.

Website Basics

Podcasting Basics

These pages are the outlines that we go over with clients, potential clients, and at conferences, like the TRPA 2006 last week. Jonathan will be doing an episode of System.Nation focused on Website Basics. This will be basically what was done at TRPA & you can participate, since we will be using TalkShoe. There are a number of ways you can participate.

Just Listen Live - the show will be live Tuesday November 21st at 2:00 EST. Click the “listen now” link on the TalkShoe Page.

Listen & Chat - install the TalkShoe client, register an account, and participate live.

Call in - if you have a TalkShoe Account you can dial in and participate live.

Download Later - a short time after the show is over it will be available for download.

We expect to release extended version of the outlines in the future and appreciate all the feedback and inquiries for consulting work we have received.

We provide a number of services for Artist Insider.

Planning – we work with all parties involved to develop a production schedule including the co-hosts and Insiders who are interviewed.

Recording – with our mobile recording equipment, we travel to the location where the interview is being conducted. We have recorded with Artist Insider in many locations including conference rooms, classrooms, and even personal homes.

Editing – editing not only for sound quality but other priories. With Artist Insider a 90 minute interview is first edited for sound. Removing any major issues and adjusting audio levels that are outside a set range. Then individual free segments are edited.

Distribution – once an audio file is ready for distribution, the shownotes must be prepared, and more information must be feed into the distribution systems that were put in place by All Things On Demand.

Management – with any system, a system administrator is not paid for their day to day work, instead they are really paid for when something goes wrong. With Artist Insider there are three main systems, then the main website itself has many sub-systems in place, that you should never notice unless something breaks and you find it as we are fixing it.

Consulting – in the case of Artist Insider, which was developed in part by us, the consulting aspect comes in by making sure Artist Insider is the best podcast it can be by keeping up with all technical trends, but also providing feedback and support to the on-air personalities. We have many years of theatrical and public speaking experience and have competed nationally in both regards in the past.
